Jacob Guldan is a small Slovak watch studio founded in 2018 by Frank Galbavý after spending many years abroad. From the beginning, the goal has been to make wristwatches in Slovakia with clean design, honest craftsmanship, and values that won’t go out of style after a single season.

The studio is named after the Bratislava watchmaker Jacob Guldan, who worked in Pressburg in the 18th century. His work reminds us of what truly matters: precision, integrity in craftsmanship, and respect for detail. We build on these principles in a modern way so that our watches feel timeless and can be confidently worn every day.

What we make and why quartz

We use quartz movements in our watches because accuracy, quality, and low maintenance use are important to us. You simply put the watch on and can wear it for years without the need for regular winding. When the time comes, a battery replacement is a standard service procedure that a watchmaker can perform quickly and safely.

Design and technical solution

Frank Galbavý sets the studio’s design direction, and each model begins as a hand sketch. Industrial designer Andrej Držík then develops these concepts into CAD models and prepares complete technical documentation, including drawings and manufacturing specifications. This ensures that individual components can be produced consistently to our standard.

Components and suppliers

We use Swiss Ronda quartz movements, known for reliability and long battery life. The sapphire crystal is scratch resistant, and an anti-reflective coating improves dial readability. The cases are made from 316L stainless steel. Our manufacturing partners produce the remaining components according to our technical documentation and precisely defined specifications. We complete the watches with Fluco leather straps, handmade in Germany.

Assembly and quality control in Bratislava

Final assembly and quality control are carried out by watchmaker Tomáš Šinál in Bratislava. Every piece is thoroughly inspected before shipping, and we also provide post warranty service with every purchase.
